I've worked for a long time to improve the experience of learning to read well for students. Lots of work has been with instructional materials and direct classroom practice. Happy to talk about reading comprehension instruction and what a giant mess we've generally made of it. Passionate about improving reading for older students and about improving reading to save our democracy. Excited about a new resource done in collaboration with the Center for Cartoon Studies: How We Read: A Graphic Guide to Literacy. It's geared to students and is free to download, or really cheap to license or purchase paper copies in bulk.
