District Literacy Coach
Mrs. Islas is a native Houstonian who works for Aldine ISD as a Bilingual District Literacy Coach.  Throughout her 20 years with the district, she has had the privilege to serve in many roles such as classroom teacher, Skills Specialist, Bilingual Dyslexia Specialist, and grade level team leader.  She also had the opportunity to teach Kinder - Fifth grade, Bilingual students, in Aldine ISD.  She received her Bachelor's in Bilingual Early Education from the University of Houston-Downtown and her Master's Degree from St. Thomas University with a specialization as a Reading Specialist.  Her passion is helping others see their potential and student success!
