Ana Aldrufeu-Madrazo, a certified bilingual education teacher with a master in leadership, is a bilingual instructional specialist at Stehlik Elementary and a presenter for the Teaching and Learning Department to support bilingual & ESL teachers on second language acquisition, as well as, a TABE and NABE presenter. She has twelve years of experience as an ELA bilingual teacher and six years as an ELA and Math skills. Ana is currently serving as the ELA/SLA Instructional Specialist for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade where she is coaching 14 teachers using the Aldine protocols. This session will provide teachers with strategies they can implement in their classrooms to create an environment for learning and to help students develop their understanding. By reinforcing efforts, providing recognition, summarizing, and note-taking with these strategies teachers can establish a positive environment for learning by intentionally scaffolding classroom experiences that allow students to be faced with challenges.
