Director of Multilingual Instructional Support
Jeanette Mercer, M.A.Ed., is the Director of Multilingual Instructional Support in Aldine ISD (Houston, Texas) and provides instructional support for 89 campuses on second language acquisition and sheltered instruction.  She has served as an ESL teacher, bilingual teacher, skills specialist, RtI interventionist, dyslexia interventionist, and assistant principal.  She was awarded ESL Teacher of the Year in 2006.  As a former assistant principal, she was the administrator of English learner services and supervised the implementation of quality instruction for Emergent Bilinguals.  Jeanette is passionate about English Learners and currently provides professional development to improve teacher capacity.  She had the opportunity to present at the National SIOP® conference in 2019 and The National Association for Bilingual Education conference in 2021 and 2022.  She also helped develop a Linguistic Accommodations for Online Learning document that was promoted by the Texas Education Agency. She has worked in Aldine for over 30 years and enjoys working with all learners.
